Dark porcelain gives a garden a sleek, modern look, and this project used it right around the house. A new terrace and lawn at the back connect to a paved side return and steps at the front.
Starting point
The owners wanted a garden that matched the clean lines of their home and its garden room, with surfaces that stay smart all year and need little upkeep.
What we did
We laid large format dark porcelain on a full mortar bed, with falls to carry water away from the house. Fresh turf was laid alongside, and the same porcelain continues down the side return and up the front steps.
- Dark porcelain terrace laid on a full mortar bed
- New turf laid against crisp paving edges
- A matching porcelain path down the side return
- Porcelain steps and a landing at the front door
Finished result
Glossy after rain and smart in the sun, the dark porcelain ties the whole property together. Porcelain resists staining and algae, so it keeps its colour with a simple wash down.
